Watercolor Master

This was written during a pretty bleak time in my life when the Lord really drew me close to Him...

Watercolor Master

You paint color to my dreams,
with the same skilled hand
that brushes life into the midnight sky...
You breathe fire to my
mundane, ordinary, too-small faith
and raise me up
above the walls that bar my soul
to see Your plan unfolding just ahead...
Watercolor Master,
paint me beautiful in Your eyes...
How I long to fill Your heart with joy
as You have mine!
Oh, what may I do to light Your smile?
what gift of love would lift Your heart
so burdened with my inadequacies?
My King, my very life-breath
flows from Your love alone...
Oh, that I may spread Your glory!
Would that I could fill the winds
with the sweet essence of You,
that all would know Your sweetness...
My Lord, my All-in-All,
My own Prince Charming,
I need no other passion -
for You are Heaven to me.

Christo Te Ama

This was written over 6 years ago, while I was on a mission trip to Mexico

Christo Te Ama

Hold my hand a moment, little one,
Your tender eyes, contageous smiles
will warm me for today,
We'll run and sing and laugh
until the sunlight fades away...
Hold tightly to me, little one -
I long to calm the fears and hurts
that plague your tender heart,
to keep you safe forever
in my arms to never part.
I'll love you always, little one -
I'll hold you for a moment, but
then I must go away,
So I'll teach you of Another -
in your heart He longs to stay...
"Christo te ama," little one,
so very much, you'll see!
Just take His hand, my precious child,
He's all you'll ever need.
So if the nighttime monsters come
with shadows dark and mean,
He'll be your fearless Hero
who will chase them from your dreams.
And if you're sad and lonely
and your tears have all been spent,
He'll hurry in to hold you,
He's the very best of friends.
Oh little one, so all alone,
no tender parents here -
He is the gentle Daddy,
He'll kiss away your tears.
Our moments fly past, little one,
and soon we'll be apart,
But though you cannot hold my hand,
know that you have my heart!
Oh precious one, I'll take your hand
and place it with the Shepherd,
for though our moments flee too fast,
He'll hold you tight forever...

Somewhere

I came across this poem today.  I wrote this over 6 years ago, before I had met my husband.  Back then I could never have imagined what the Lord had in store for me!  The wait was long and at times seemed endless, but my Adam was well worth it!

My Somewhere
Somewhere in Your world, my Lord,
One caring voice leads a child in prayer,
Two strong hands reach to embrace the weak,
Wisdom-lightened eyes scan his world for the hurting...

Somewhere in Your world, my Lord,
Two burdened shoulders bow
In humble adoration at Your throne -
with voice seasoned with love and longing,
he prays for me
until we meet,
Somewhere in Your world, my Lord

Though near or far in presence,
I do not yet know,
but in Spirit
we are already
One...

So, until that day, when that practiced voice
leads our own child in prayer,
and those same hands team together with mine-
until our eyes focus on the same calling
and I kneel beside love-burdened shoulders,
sharing his grief, his yoke-
we will pray for each other
and praise You for guiding us
all the while closer
to Somewhere...
